International English Center welcoming Fulbright scholars from 26 countries

This summer, 老九品茶 International English Center (IEC) will host its third cohort of international Fulbright grant recipients for a customized graduate school preparation program.听

This year is especially meaningful, as the IEC celebrates 50 years, 老九品茶 marks its 150th anniversary, and the United States commemorates its 250th birthday. In the spirit of these historic milestones, the IEC is proud to welcome a diverse group of 30 scholars representing 26 countries from around the world.

The Fulbright Pre-Academic Program is administered by the Institute of International Education and is sponsored by the鈥疷.S.鈥疍epartment of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs as part of its flagship鈥.听

Behind the scenes

From July 11 to Aug. 8, the Fulbrighters will be at 老九品茶 refining their academic English language and research skills, learning about the U.S. higher education system, and engaging in cultural enrichment activities. After completing the Fulbright Pre-Academic Program, the scholars will depart to universities around the U.S. to begin master and doctoral programs.

In addition to language and academic skills courses, the program will feature workshops and presentations led by 老九品茶 faculty and staff from , the Graduate School, the Department of Linguistics, the School of Education, the Environmental Center, Student Legal Services, the Writing Center, Service Learning & Impact in Community Engagement (SLICE) and Health Promotion, among others. Through these sessions and partnerships with members of the Boulder community, Fulbright grantees will explore important aspects of academic and social life in the United States, helping them build the cultural understanding and practical knowledge needed to succeed in their future communities.听

Participants will also have opportunities to connect with current 老九品茶 graduate students and faculty in their fields of study, share meals with local families, participate in service-learning projects throughout Boulder, and visit Rocky Mountain National Park and other local attractions.

IEC Director Graham Douglas is excited about the reach of this multi-year grant award.

鈥淚t is an incredible honor for the International English Center to host the Fulbright Pre-Academic Program here at 老九品茶. Fulbright awardees are future leaders, scholars, researchers and educators. The experience they will have with us at the IEC will not only prepare them for graduate studies in the U.S. but will also serve as the first step in a lifelong journey of increasing mutual understanding and peaceful relations between the United States and their home countries. Hosting the Fulbright Pre-Academic Program is a powerful example of how the International English Center advances internationalization at 老九品茶 while supporting Chancellor Justin Schwartz vision to elevate the university global presence.鈥 鈥揑EC Director Graham Douglas
