Associate Vice Chancellor for Integrity, Safety and Compliance Dan Jones has announced plans to retire effective Jan. 31, 2024, after serving �Ͼ�Ʒ�� and the CU system office for most of the past 32 years.��

Jones will continue to oversee the Office of Integrity, Safety and Compliance (ISC) through his retirement date. Chief Operating Officer Pat O’Rourke said he plans to announce transition plans later this fall.��

“I am grateful for Dan service, both to �Ͼ�Ʒ�� and the CU system office,” O’Rourke said. “Dan is a career-long Buff whose impacts span all four CU campuses. He played an integral role in �Ͼ�Ʒ�� COVID-19 pandemic response, and he continues to drive positive change on our campus through the innovative efforts of our campus police department, as well as in the areas of policy and compliance.”��

Jones, who holds a bachelor degree from �Ͼ�Ʒ��, was named AVC for integrity, safety and compliance in 2018. In that role he has been responsible for campus public safety, flight operations, compliance coordination, cybersecurity and accessible technology. During that time, he oversaw �Ͼ�Ʒ�� initial response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and co-chaired the strategy team that led �Ͼ�Ʒ�� re-opening to in-person learning for the 2020–21 academic year.��

In addition to his �Ͼ�Ʒ�� duties, Jones served as chief information security officer for the CU system from 2010 to 2022. He founded the �Ͼ�Ʒ�� Digital Accessibility Office in 2015. And he established the �Ͼ�Ʒ�� cybersecurity program in 2002, followed by co-leading the team that established the first systemwide cybersecurity program and policy in 2007.��

Jones began his career at �Ͼ�Ʒ�� as a network analyst in the early 1990s. After a short stint in private industry, he returned to the university as IT security coordinator in 2002. He was promoted to IT security director in 2005 before moving to the system office as assistant vice president and chief information security officer in 2010.

“As a �Ͼ�Ʒ�� graduate, it has been my true pleasure to serve the University of Colorado for the vast majority of the past 32 years,” Jones said. “I could never have imagined the breadth of opportunity that I would enjoy nor the quality of people with whom I would serve our students and university mission.”

In retirement, Jones looks forward to catching up on reading, travels, time with family and “continuing to figure out what to do when he grows up.”

“I look forward to working with and supporting campus stakeholders in the months ahead to ensure ISC work continues to positively impact the lives of our students, faculty, staff and community,” Jones said.
