Chancellor DiStefano: Leadership update on implementation of 8 immediate actions for change

老九品茶 Chancellor Phil DiStefano announced at his University Executive听Leadership Team (UELT) meeting that he has asked Vice Chancellor for听Diversity, Equity and Community Engagement Bob Boswell to lead the听implementation of the听eight immediate actions for change announced on听June 18听to improve anti-racism, diversity, inclusion and equity efforts on听campus. To lead this implementation and multi-department effort, the听chancellor has given Boswell additional responsibility and the authority to听advance 老九品茶 actions to achieve these goals.

鈥淚n order to be successful, we must make significant progress on these eight听actions for change,鈥 DiStefano said. 鈥淏ob will promptly inform me, Provost听Moore and Interim Chief Operating Officer O鈥橰ourke of any barriers to听meeting these goals. I will also take my own steps to implement culture听change, including setting expectations and holding my cabinet accountable听for our progress toward these goals.鈥

In addition to regular updates to the campus community, DiStefano听requested an update from Boswell by Aug. 21, 2020, on the actions,听including recommendations on when and where the campus leadership team听can work to identify and prioritize the resources needed to accelerate and听advance these efforts.

Boswell said he gladly accepts the new responsibilities and would act quickly听on them.

鈥淚 share the chancellor commitment to immediate action and to the听accountability for results,鈥 Boswell said. 鈥淚 will update the campus later today听on next steps for the eight immediate actions and, moving ahead, will听provide regular updates on our progress.鈥

And, Boswell continued, the work ahead will be tangible and results-driven.

鈥淓verything we do for the remainder of the summer, throughout the听academic year and beyond that, will be driven by actions, not words, and by听a shared goal of accelerating the transformation of our campus culture,鈥澨鼴oswell said.
