Note: The last day for graduate and MBA students to submit or cancel a fall graduation application was Tuesday, Oct. 1.

Law students: Last day to submit or cancel a fall graduation application (11:59 p.m.).

Monday, Nov. 3

Graduate and MBA students: Last day to purchase master's or doctoral regalia online (11:59 p.m.).

Friday, Dec. 5

Undergrads: Last day to submit or cancel a fall graduation application (11:59 p.m.).

Friday, Dec. 12

Fall 2025 degrees are conferred. The university commencement ceremony occurs in May and fall graduates are invited to participate. Many colleges, schools, departments and programs also hold winter recognition ceremonies in December.

Undergrads may purchase undergraduate regalia from the CU Book Store in-store during store hours or online at any time.

Dear [first],

Your College Opportunity Fund (COF) stipend can't be applied to your bill because you didn't include your Social Security number (SSN) in your COF application.

COF was created by the Colorado Legislature to pay a portion of total in-state tuition for eligible undergrads. There's no limit to the number of students who receive it, and you never have to pay it back.

To Correct Your Record

To resolve this error, follow our step-by-step instructions to update your record by 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, 2025.

Do not email anything containing your SSN. Doing so could put you at high risk for identity theft.

We'll securely send your information to College Assist. Once the error is resolved, follow our instructions to authorize COF by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12, 2025.

Happy National Voter Registration Day! Register to vote now to have your voice heard in the November election.

What You Need to Know

In-state students: All active, registered Colorado voters automatically receive a ballot in the mail a few weeks before Election Day. If you plan to vote in Boulder or in your home county, make sure you're registered to vote and that your ballot mailing address is up to date. Colorado voters may update their registration at anytime.
Out-of-state students: You may choose to either request an absentee ballot from your home state or register to vote in Boulder County. You cannot register and/or vote in both locations. Many states have a registration and/or absentee ballot request deadline, so act now to receive your ballot.

Note: If you register to vote in Colorado, you'll be considered a Colorado resident for motor vehicle registration, income tax, and jury duty purposes. Registering to vote does not automatically make you a resident for tuition purposes. Your �Ͼ�Ʒ�� tuition classification won't change unless you take all of the necessary actions to establish residency and successfully petition for a change in residency.
Students living on campus: Whether voting in Colorado or in your home state via absentee ballot, you must use your mailbox number, not your dorm room number for your ballot to find you. Visit Boulder County's Student Voting Guidelines page for instructions.

In-Person Registration & Voting

In mid to late October, you can visit the UMC Vote Center to register, vote in person, or call ahead to order your ballot to-go.

Note: Registration for continuing and readmitted degree-seeking undergraduate students closes May 22.

Get Ready to Register

Your assigned enrollment period begins at [time] on [date]. To make registration as easy as possible, complete these tasks now:

Add your enrollment dates to your calendar.
Work to resolve any registration holds by following the instructions in the hold's description.
If you haven't already, schedule an advising appointment.
If eligible, reserve a seat in a course. Course reservation starts Monday, March 17, and ends at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 21.
Complete preregistration.
Search for classes and add them to your shopping cart for faster registration. Learn more about how to search for classes.

Register for Classes

Register as soon as your enrollment time begins for the best chance to get the classes, class times and/or instruction modes you want. For step-by-step instructions, see our registration pages.

If a class you want is full, add yourself to the waitlist and set up drop if enrolled to automatically drop a backup class if you're enrolled from the waitlist.

Upcoming Key Deadlines

May 22: Registration closes for current (continuing) and readmitted degree-seeking undergraduate and partnership program students.
July 23: Schedule adjustment begins for current (continuing) and readmitted undergraduates and partnership program students and remains open through open enrollment.

Note: Registration for graduate students remains open through open enrollment.

Coming Back After Some Time Away?

Even if you're not taking classes this spring, you're still considered an active student if you've been gone for fewer than two semesters plus summer (undergrads), or if you took an official leave of absence (grad students).

We noticed that you've exhausted your allotted 145 lifetime hours of COF funding toward your degree. On your behalf, we've granted you an institutional extension that allows your COF funding to continue through Fall 2025.

You don't need to take any additional action at this time. This semester's COF hours will be applied to your bill within 48 to 72 hours.

To Apply for Additional COF Hours

If you need COF hours beyond Fall 2025, you may submit a Colorado Commission on Higher Education waiver request to ask for additional hours.

To Postpone This Extension

To postpone this COF lifetime limit extension until your next semester of enrollment, email the COF support team by 5 p.m. on Friday, March 21.

Please be aware that if you postpone the extension, you'll be responsible for paying the portion of this semester's tuition typically covered by COF funds.

Summer and Fall 2025 Advising Hold Timeline

Friday, Jan. 17: The Systems & Data Services team contacted departments with existing hold information.
Thursday, Jan. 30:
- Deadline for departments with existing holds to submit additions, changes or deletions.
- Deadline for departments to request a new advising hold (email your request to cusisdev@colorado.edu).
Tuesday, Feb. 4: Deadline for departments to submit SID lists for batch processing (if applicable).
Thursday, Feb. 6: The Systems & Data Services team begins setting advising holds.
Tuesday, Feb. 11 at noon: Final advising hold deadline for Summer 2025.
Tuesday, March 4 at noon: Final advising hold deadline for Fall 2025.
Wednesday, Feb. 12: Assigned enrollment dates for Summer 2025 are visible to students in Buff Portal. No new advising holds will be assigned for Summer 2025.
Wednesday, March 5: Assigned enrollment dates for Fall 2025 are visible to students in Buff Portal. No new advising holds will be assigned for Fall 2025.

We will be setting Summer and Fall 2025 advising holds (a.k.a., advising service indicators) for continuing students on Thursday, Feb. 6. Once set, these holds will prevent students in those programs from registering until they've met with their academic advisor.

If your department would like to discuss creating a new advising hold for Summer of Fall 2025, email the Systems & Data Services team with the details of your request by Thursday, Jan. 30.

Review Your Holds

If your department currently uses advising holds, you should have received an email from the Systems & Data Services team last week to confirm the population and text of your hold. Reply with any necessary changes, additions or deletions by Thursday, Jan. 30.

If your department's advising holds are assigned using an SID list, submit your list by noon on Tuesday, Feb. 4. Lists submitted after that date will be processed in the order in which they're received, allowing at least two business days for processing.

Notify Your Students

To support student success, academic departments are responsible for notifying their students when an advising hold is placed and for providing a clear explanation of the steps the student must take to have it released.

If you wish to request an e-memo, student communications are distributed by Strategic Relations & Communications using �Ͼ�Ʒ�� Today and associated campus communication tools. Visit the �Ͼ�Ʒ�� Today website to view the different tools (e.g., �Ͼ�Ʒ�� Today stories and administrative e-memos) and submit your message for campus audiences.

Release Holds Promptly

Advising holds now include a timeline for release (e.g., "After you've met with your advisor, your hold will be removed within three business days"). Please remove the advising hold as soon as you can after the student has received advising to ensure compliance with this timeline.

We sent this email at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2025, to individuals who needed to receive a 1098-T tuition statement for 2024, didn't have an SSN or TIN on file, and didn't receive the October 2024 version of this email.

You are required by federal law to provide a Social Security number (SSN) or Taxpayer Identification number (TIN) to �Ͼ�Ʒ�� for tax purposes.*

If you fail to do so, the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) may impose a financial penalty of $50 (26 CFR 1.6050S-1(e)).

To resolve this issue, submit an SSN/TIN update form and a copy of your SSN or TIN card to the Office of the Registrar by mail or secure document upload by 5 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2025.

Privacy

�Ͼ�Ʒ�� protects the confidentiality of personally identifiable information and will not disclose an SSN or TIN for any purpose not permitted by law or policy (including FERPA) without your consent.

*Federal Requirement

Section 6109 of the Internal Revenue Code requires you to provide your correct SSN or TIN so �Ͼ�Ʒ�� can file Form 1098-T (Tuition Statement) with the IRS and provide a statement to you.

Our records indicate that you expected to complete the undergraduate requirements for your Bachelor's–Accelerated Master's (BAM) program in Fall 2025.

If this is still when you plan to graduate with your bachelor's degree, complete the steps below to continue with your master's degree. These steps need to be finished by Oct. 1 so you're able to enroll in Spring 2026 classes when registration opens the first week of November.

Apply to graduate with your bachelor's degree.
Submit a master's continuation form.
Submit a BAM supplement form to identify which courses you're double counting and which should apply to your master's degree.

If your expected graduation term has changed, please complete a BAM program change form so we can update your records. If you're completing your bachelor's degree this semester, you'll need to complete the steps above by Saturday, Feb. 1.

Students are considered for different types and amounts of financial aid when they become graduates students. If you're receiving financial aid, please note that your aid will be adjusted automatically when your student status changes.

To support student success, please enter, approve and post all grades by each class's deadline. The final grading deadline is Monday, Dec. 23 at 11:59 p.m. MT. Late grades can lead to serious negative consequences for your students.
