The Campos Student Center, part of the College of Engineering and Applied Science at ÀÏ¾ÅÆ·²è, is dedicated to fostering community and supporting student success in engineering. The center creates a welcoming and inclusive environment for students of all backgrounds through academic support, mentoring, and leadership development opportunities.
The Campos Student Center is seeking Tutors to support academic success in engineering and applied science disciplines. This role emphasizes leadership, collaboration with faculty, and high-quality tutoring support in a dynamic learning environment.Ìý
Key Responsibilities
Provide walk-in and drop-in tutoring support to studentsÌý
Facilitate group study sessions and exam preparation workshopsÌý
Mentor and support fellow tutorsÌý
Collaborate with faculty to enhance tutoring strategiesÌý
Assist students with coursework, problem-solving, and study strategiesÌý
Participate in training, team meetings, and tutor recruitment effortsÌý
Minimum Qualifications
- ÀÏ¾ÅÆ·²è undergraduate with GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Completed at least one semester in the College of Engineering & Applied Science
- Strong competency in Calculus (required)
- Ability to effectively facilitate walk-in and drop-in tutoring
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse student populationsÌý
Preferred QualificationsÌý
- GPA of 3.5 or higher
- Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills
- Prior tutoring, mentoring, or leadership experience
- Ability to work both independently and collaborativelyÌý
Compensation & Schedule
- $18.75 per hour with pro-rated sick leave
- 7–10 hours per week with flexible scheduling (including some evenings)
- Minimum two-semester commitment; continued employment based on performanceÌý

Step 1: Video Tutorial Submission
Applicants are required to submit a 7-minute video tutorial demonstrating their ability to teach a core concept.
Instructions:
- Record a 7-minute video explaining how to solve the following problem:Ìý

- Emphasize how you would explain the concept to a peer student Ìý
- Ensure your work is clearly visible (e.g., paper, tablet, or whiteboard) and your audio is easy to understand Ìý
- Videos may be recorded using a phone, tablet, or computer Ìý
Submission Format:
- Submit a shareable video link (e.g., Google Drive, YouTube unlisted, or similar platform) Ìý
- Acceptable formats include common video types such as MP4 or MOV Ìý
- No file conversion is required—please prioritize clarity and accessibility Ìý
Evaluation Criteria:
- Conceptual understanding and accuracy Ìý

Step 2: In-Person Interview (Soft Skills Focus)
Selected candidates will be invited to participate in a 30-minute in-person interview.
