Topher Downham taking students on a wheelchair tour of the Wonderland Lake Trail

The Urban Design and Livable City course journeyed on a field trip to North Boulder, which was guided by Topher Downham, an outreach coordinator with the City of Boulder who gets around by wheelchair. Downham engaged the students by taking them on a wheelchair tour of the Wonderland Lake Trail, as well as the Lucky Market complex.听

鈥淲e gained such valuable insights and perspective around what it like to navigate various typographies by wheelchair,鈥 Nettie Skievaski, ENVD instructor said. 鈥淢ore importantly, it helped to highlight the importance of considering those perspectives when designing the built environment.鈥澨
